Terms of Service

Effective Date: February 10, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using Me² (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. Me² is operated by [Your Legal Entity Name] ("we," "us," or "our").

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of Service

Me² is an AI-powered self-reflection and personal growth platform. The Service uses artificial intelligence to engage you in meaningful conversations, build a psychological profile based on your self-reported experiences and reflections, and provide personalized insights over time.

Me² is not a medical device, therapeutic tool, or mental health service. It does not provide diagnoses, treatment recommendations, or clinical advice. It is designed for self-exploration and personal reflection only.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use Me². By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account and all associated data.

4. Account Registration

You must create an account to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.

You agree to: (a) provide accurate and complete registration information; (b) maintain and promptly update your information; (c) notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account; and (d) not share your account credentials with any third party.

5. Subscription and Payment

Me² offers both free and paid subscription tiers. Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) through our payment processor, Stripe.

  • Free Tier: Limited conversations per month with core self-reflection features.
  • Premium Tier: Expanded conversation limits, advanced psychological profiling, pattern detection, and priority processing.

All fees are stated in Canadian dollars (CAD) unless otherwise specified. Prices may change with 30 days' notice. Subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by applicable law or as described in Section 6.

6. Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period. Your account will then revert to the free tier.

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee for new subscribers. If you are unsatisfied within 14 days of your first paid subscription, contact us for a full refund.

Data upon cancellation: Your encrypted data remains in our systems and accessible to you on the free tier. If you delete your account entirely, all data is permanently and irreversibly deleted within 30 days.

7. Privacy and Data Encryption

Your privacy is architecturally enforced, not merely promised. The following describes how your data is protected:

  • Encryption at rest: All conversation content, psychological profiles, memories, and extracted entities are encrypted using AES-256-GCM with a per-user encryption key before being stored in our database.
  • Key derivation: Your encryption key is derived from your password using Argon2id, an industry-leading key derivation function. This key is never transmitted to, stored on, or accessible by our servers.
  • AI processing: To generate AI responses, your data must be temporarily decrypted in an isolated, stateless serverless process. During this brief window, plaintext exists only in volatile memory and is discarded immediately after processing. No plaintext is ever written to disk or logs.
  • Third-party AI provider: Our AI engine is powered by Anthropic's Claude API, which operates under a zero-data-retention policy. Your data is not stored by Anthropic and is not used for model training.
  • What we cannot access: We cannot read your messages, view your psychological profile, or access your personal reflections. Our database contains only encrypted ciphertext that is computationally infeasible to decrypt without your password.
  • Metadata: We collect limited metadata necessary for service operation, including account creation date, message timestamps, conversation counts, subscription status, and device information. This metadata is not encrypted and is used for billing, rate limiting, and service improvement.

For complete details, see our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

(a) Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights; (b) Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful content; (c) Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service; (d) Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features, including encryption mechanisms; (e) Use the Service to develop a competing product or service; (f) Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity; (g) Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without our written permission; or (h) Attempt to access another user's encrypted data or account.

9. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

The AI responses generated by Me² are produced by a large language model and are intended for self-reflection purposes only. You acknowledge and agree that:

(a) AI responses may contain inaccuracies, reflect biases, or produce unexpected outputs; (b) AI-generated insights about your personality, patterns, or behaviors are approximations, not clinical assessments; (c) The Service is not a substitute for professional mental health care, therapy, counseling, or medical advice; (d) You should not make important life decisions based solely on AI-generated content; and (e) If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, you should contact emergency services (911) or a crisis helpline immediately.

10. Crisis and Safety

Me² includes automated systems that may detect language indicating a user is in crisis or at risk of self-harm. If our systems detect such language, we may:

(a) Display crisis resources and helpline information within the app; (b) Modify AI responses to prioritize safety; (c) In cases of imminent danger, we may override encryption protections to the extent necessary to contact emergency services or comply with mandatory reporting obligations.

Important: Automated crisis detection is imperfect. It may produce false positives or fail to detect genuine crises. You should not rely on Me² as a safety net. If you or someone you know is in danger, please contact emergency services directly.

11. Intellectual Property

Our property: The Service, including its software, algorithms, design, branding, and documentation, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property except the limited right to use the Service as described herein.

Your content: You retain ownership of the content you create within the Service (your messages, reflections, and personal information). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This license terminates when you delete your account.

AI-generated content: Insights, patterns, and responses generated by the AI based on your input are provided as part of the Service. You may use this content for personal purposes.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR PERSONAL INJURY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

You acknowledge that the Service uses AI technology that may produce unexpected, inaccurate, or inappropriate outputs, and that we are not liable for any decisions you make based on AI-generated content.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Me² and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights; or (d) any content you submit through the Service.

14. Data Portability and Deletion

Export: You may request an export of your data at any time through your account settings. Exported data will be provided in an encrypted format that can be decrypted with your encryption key.

Deletion: You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion, all encrypted data, metadata, psychological profiles, and memories associated with your account will be permanently deleted within 30 days. This action is irreversible.

Data retention after deletion: Anonymized, aggregated analytics data (not linked to your account or identity) may be retained for service improvement purposes.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be submitted to good-faith mediation. If mediation fails, the dispute shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the ADR Institute of Ontario, conducted in Toronto, Ontario.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property rights.

16. General Provisions

Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Me² regarding the Service.

Waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of that provision or any other provision.

Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Force Majeure: We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
